The Veterinary Angel Network for Entrepreneurs has welcomed its 100th member five years after its 2021 founding, cementing its position as the only US angel network exclusively focused on animal health — with more than $6.3 million deployed across 40-plus portfolio companies by a membership that brings clinical, scientific and industry expertise to early-stage veterinary investment.

The Veterinary Angel Network for Entrepreneurs (VANE) has reached a membership milestone, announcing its 100th member as it marks five years since its 2021 founding. The group is the only US angel network focused exclusively on animal health, bringing together veterinarians, scientists, founders and industry executives to invest in early-stage veterinary ventures.

VANE says its members have deployed more than $6.3m across more than 40 portfolio companies in areas such as diagnostics, therapeutics, digital health platforms and practice innovation. Unlike generalist investors, the network emphasises sector-specific expertise , what it calls “smart capital” , arguing that clinical experience and industry knowledge can be decisive for whether a veterinary technology succeeds in the market.

Founders who secure backing from VANE benefit, the group says, from pooled diligence, mentorship and access to members’ professional networks in addition to individual investment. Natalie Marks, the network’s chief executive and a practising veterinarian, described the membership as a resource that combines exam-room experience with commercial know-how. Co‑founder Peter Glassman said the 100‑member threshold increases the group’s capacity to evaluate opportunities and support portfolio companies.

The milestone arrives amid growing investor interest in animal health, a sector that has attracted more venture funding in recent years but where early-stage firms can still encounter scepticism from investors unfamiliar with veterinary practice and regulation. VANE aims to fill that gap by mobilising experienced professionals as angel investors.

The network continues to recruit veterinarians, scientists and industry leaders interested in angel investment. Its expanding membership suggests a maturing pipeline of sector-specific investors ready to back innovations in animal medicine and care.
