Slovenian drug manufacturer Krka reports a 7% increase in first-half revenue to €920.4m, driven by strong demand across all regions and product groups, with its highest half-year operating profit in history.

Slovenian generic-drug maker Krka said first-half revenue rose 7% year on year to €920.4m, as demand strengthened across all six of its sales regions and across product groups, according to company results published in 2023. Operating profit increased to €236.2m, the highest half-year level in the company’s history, while net profit reached €170.1m.

Krka said the performance reflected broad-based sales growth and resilience in the face of inflationary pressure. The company had already indicated in an earlier estimate that first-half sales were on track to rise by 7%, with operating profit up 9% from the same period in 2022. It also noted that net profit was about half of the level planned for the full year at that stage.

In the first quarter, Krka reported revenue of €458.2m, up 6%, alongside net profit of €89m. The company said it invested €21.8m during the period, largely in manufacturing capacity, research and development, and secured marketing approvals for three new medicines.

By the end of September, Krka said revenue had climbed to €1.34bn, putting it on course to exceed its annual sales target.
