Krka UK launches first generic chewable robenacoxib tablets for cats, expanding its veterinary NSAID range
Krka UK introduces the first generic chewable robenacoxib tablets for cats, completing its pain management portfolio with species-specific formulations. This move aims to improve access, ease of use, and pain control for veterinary practices, amid increasing demand for cost-effective NSAID options in companion animal care.
Krka UK has rounded out its Robexera pain portfolio with a chewable tablet for cats, giving the company a full set of robenacoxib products across species and formulations. The launch matters because it extends a generic alternative to a prescription-only NSAID used in routine practice for musculoskeletal and post-surgical pain, where cost and ease of administration can shape uptake.
According to Krka’s announcement, Robexera Chewable Tablets for Cats are the first generic feline robenacoxib chewable tablets available in the UK. The 6mg, flavoured tablets are designed for cats weighing at least 2.5kg and are indicated for acute or chronic musculoskeletal pain and inflammation, as well as moderate pain after orthopaedic surgery.
The move follows earlier UK launches of an injectable robenacoxib solution in April and chewable dog tablets for osteoarthritis and soft-tissue surgery. That sequence leaves Krka with a broader veterinary NSAID line-up that mirrors the originator product more closely, while giving practices a lower-cost option.
The clinical case for robenacoxib remains strong: it is highly COX-2 selective and is generally regarded as having a favourable safety profile in cats compared with older NSAIDs. For animal-health groups, the commercial prize is straightforward: wider access, easier dosing and a better chance of consistent pain control in companion animals.
