With projections of increased poultry, pork, and egg production by 2027, Brazil’s animal protein sector aims to capitalise on rising global demand and expand into new markets despite external challenges.

Brazil’s animal protein industry is expecting another strong two years, with the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein, ABPA, forecasting higher output and exports for poultry, pork and eggs through 2027.

According to ABPA’s latest projections, chicken production could rise 5.6% in 2026, with exports up 10.3%, before reaching 16.6 million tonnes by 2027. Pork output is expected to advance 5% to 5.87 million tonnes next year and edge above 6 million tonnes by 2027, with shipments potentially climbing to 1.7 million tonnes. Egg production, meanwhile, is seen increasing to 64.8 billion units in 2026 and 66.5 billion by 2027.

The association said the outlook is being supported by a larger grain supply and more stable production costs, while domestic demand remains firm. Even so, ABPA warned that the sector is still exposed to external shocks, including avian influenza in Europe, African swine fever in Asia and wider trade disruption caused by conflicts and tariffs.

ABPA is also looking for new export destinations, including Indonesia, Nigeria and India, as it seeks to broaden Brazil’s already substantial presence in global markets. Its 2026 annual report, published separately, said Brazil produced 15.289 million tonnes of chicken and 5.592 million tonnes of pork in 2025, underlining the scale of the industry’s base.
