Nutravet introduces Nutraren Advanced Kidney Support in a liquid format to aid older cats with declining kidney function, offering a new, easier-to-administer option for veterinary practitioners and pet owners.

Nutravet has added a liquid option to its renal range with the launch of Nutraren Advanced Kidney Support for cats, a veterinary-exclusive supplement aimed at older animals with declining kidney function. According to the company, the product is intended to sit alongside existing renal management plans rather than replace them.

The formulation combines calcium carbonate, which Nutravet says helps bind phosphorus, with prebiotic fibres to support digestive health. The liquid format is designed for rapid intestinal absorption and, crucially for feline patients, easier administration. Emma Purnell, clinical adviser at Nutravet, said cats can be difficult patients when supplements are unpalatable, and argued that a drink format may improve acceptance while also encouraging greater water intake.

For clinicians managing chronic kidney disease in practice, the launch broadens Nutravet’s renal portfolio. The company already markets Nutraren as a capsule-based supplement for cats and dogs, built around omega-3s, toxin binders and antioxidants. The new liquid version appears to target a different compliance challenge: owners of fussy eaters who struggle with capsules or tablets.

Nutravet says Nutraren Advanced Kidney Support will be sold only through veterinary practices, in boxes of four 150ml drinks. The positioning suggests the company is looking to align the product with routine renal support discussions, especially in senior cats where subtle dietary and hydration interventions can make day-to-day management easier.
