Family Farm & Home enhances pet retail with online prescription service and expanded offerings
Family Farm & Home is intensifying its focus on pet retail, introducing a new online prescription service and expanding its pet product range across its growing store network, driven by changing consumer needs for convenience and premium nutrition.
Family Farm & Home is leaning harder into pet retail as it broadens its role as a farm-and-home destination, combining a refreshed pet department with a new online prescription service for owners seeking a more convenient way to manage routine medication needs. The West Michigan-based chain, which began in Michigan in 2002, now operates more than 70 stores across five states and continues to market itself as a one-stop shop for rural and suburban households alike.
According to the company’s own website, the retailer carries pet supplies alongside livestock feed, bird food, hardware, clothing, farm products and lawn and garden goods. It has also added a pet pharmacy through a partnership with Vetsource, allowing customers to order prescription products and therapeutic nutrition online after veterinarian approval, with delivery direct to the home.
Family Farm & Home says the move reflects changing consumer expectations, particularly around premium nutrition, wellness and convenience. The company has also expanded its pet assortment in select locations, including fresh and frozen food, while trying to preserve the in-store advice and broad basket appeal that distinguish it from pure-play pet chains.
