CPD Solutions has launched a synoptic pathway within its Postgraduate Certificate in Small Animal Surgery, enabling candidates to demonstrate clinical reasoning and pursue Advanced Practitioner status without a final exam, in a 12-month work-based programme.

CPD Solutions has added a synoptic route to its Postgraduate Certificate in Small Animal Surgery, creating a pathway that can be used towards Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Advanced Practitioner status. The company says the 12-month, work-based programme is aimed at practising veterinary surgeons and remains available in a standard form for vets who want to build surgical confidence and gain a postgraduate qualification without a final exam.

According to CPD Solutions, the new route adds a synoptic assessment after the taught modules, allowing candidates to show integrated clinical reasoning and apply learning to unfamiliar cases. The firm says passing this award means it can form part of an application for Advanced Practitioner status, provided wider RCVS criteria are met. Its materials describe the certificate as a university-validated, 60-credit Level 7 qualification, although company pages differ on whether the award is linked to the University of Lancashire or the University of Chester.
