BEVA Congress 2026 to spotlight horse welfare with leading clinicians
The British Equine Veterinary Association has announced two senior clinicians as plenary speakers for 2026, emphasising welfare alongside clinical advances at the annual Congress, which continues to be a key event for equine practitioners.
The British Equine Veterinary Association has named two senior equine clinicians as plenary speakers for its 2026 Congress, with the programme set to place welfare firmly at the centre of discussion. Meta Osborne, co-owner of an Irish Thoroughbred stud farm and a former president of the Irish Veterinary Association, will give the John Hickman plenary lecture on 10 September, focusing on equine welfare.
Tim Mair, equine veterinary director at CVS and honorary professor at the Royal Veterinary College, will deliver the Peter Rossdale Memorial lecture on 11 September. His talk is expected to look at progress in equine care and welfare, adding to a Congress agenda that has repeatedly combined clinical advances with practical, day-to-day relevance for equine practitioners.
BEVA Congress has also used recent editions to spotlight topics ranging from behaviour and safety to colic surgery and antimicrobial stewardship, underlining its role as a major continuing education forum for the sector. In 2023, the association also welcomed the Princess Royal, its patron since 2003, at the annual awards presentation, reflecting the event’s long-standing profile within British equine medicine.
