AstroDoc expands ASTRID platform with free veterinary AI to aid pet owners facing rising costs
AstroDoc has launched a free, browser-based veterinary AI companion as part of its ASTRID platform to assist pet owners dealing with increasing veterinary expenses, offering round-the-clock symptom triage and guidance without replacing licensed vets.
AstroDoc has expanded its ASTRID platform with a free veterinary AI companion aimed at pet owners who are struggling with rising care bills, a move that comes as Reuters has previously reported that more than half of US pet owners delayed or skipped vet visits last year because of cost. The browser-based tool offers around-the-clock symptom triage and urgency guidance, but the company says it does not diagnose or replace a licensed veterinarian.
According to AP News, the veterinary companion is available worldwide without downloads or account creation, and is designed to ask guided questions, flag symptoms that need prompt attention and draw on vetted scientific sources. AstroDoc says the same underlying system already supports its human-health tool in more than 65 countries, while the company’s own launch material says the wider ASTRID platform has since been extended into medical, dental and veterinary support.
The company also says it has added Spanish-language access and plans broader language support. For busy practices, the practical significance is less about automation than triage: a free, always-on front door may steer some owners towards timely care, even if it cannot substitute for clinical judgement.
