Virbac launches Floragest for digestive support in cats and dogs

Virbac has begun the European rollout of Floragest, a new companion-animal product combining prebiotics and postbiotics to support digestive health in cats and dogs. The launch expands the company’s home-care portfolio as interest in the role of the gut microbiome in animal health continues to grow.

Virbac has launched Floragest in several European markets, introducing a daily supplement designed to help maintain a balanced gut microbiome and support digestive comfort and natural defences in cats and dogs.

The product combines prebiotics, which support beneficial intestinal bacteria, with postbiotics intended to act on intestinal tissue and help maintain the gut barrier. Virbac says the formulation is designed to support animals experiencing microbial imbalances associated with factors including stress, dietary changes and antibiotic treatment.

Floragest is positioned for everyday use, with Virbac highlighting benefits including regulated digestion, firmer stools and reduced gas, alongside support for the animal’s natural immune defences.
The product is formulated as a soft chew, with cats and dogs receiving one chew per day. Virbac said the format was designed to encourage consistent administration and make digestive support easier for owners to incorporate into daily routines.

The phased European launch began in September and expands Virbac’s range of at-home companion-animal health products, adding another microbiome-focused offering to its portfolio.
