MSD Animal Health has commenced a UK roadshow to encourage personalised parasite control, offering free flea and tick checks at dog-friendly events across the country, aiming to shift pet owners towards customised prevention strategies.

MSD Animal Health has begun a UK roadshow designed to push parasite prevention further into everyday pet care, taking free flea and tick checks and personalised risk assessments to dog-friendly events.

Branded The Big Pet Parasite Check, the campaign has already appeared at the North East Dog Festival in County Durham and is due to continue at events in Norfolk, Knebworth, Oxford, Glasgow and Kent from late August through to late November. The company says the aim is to show owners that parasite protection should reflect each animal’s lifestyle, surroundings and local parasite pressure, rather than be treated as a one-size-fits-all purchase.

At each stop, veterinary professionals and MSD’s parasiticide specialists will examine dogs for signs of fleas and ticks, discuss likely exposure risks and encourage owners to seek tailored advice from their own vet. Visitors will also receive information packs and pet-care goodie bags.

The campaign sits alongside broader education efforts from MSD, including a new risk checker tool for practices. The company has also been promoting wider concerns about preventable disease, saying recent research found that almost all UK vets had seen a pet die from an infectious illness that could have been avoided, underlining the commercial and clinical case for more consistent preventive care.
