Agsenze, the company behind livestock monitoring system HerdVision, has joined California-based Spade Technologies. The deal brings HerdVision into Spade Farm as the group expands its portfolio of dairy management, finance and data technologies.

Agsenze, developer of the HerdVision livestock monitoring system, has joined Spade Technologies, bringing its camera-based animal monitoring technology into the US company’s growing dairy technology portfolio.

HerdVision will become part of Spade Farm, a software platform designed to integrate farm management and accounting data. The wider Spade Technologies group also includes Spade Finance, which incorporates agricultural technology financing business BankBarn, and Spade Enterprise, a data platform focused on post-farm-gate reporting for the dairy sector.

According to Agsenze, HerdVision is currently used to monitor more than 100,000 dairy cows across 11 countries. Its vision-based technology remotely assesses animals without requiring wearable or implanted devices and has also been developed to measure bodyweight in dairy heifers and finishing beef cattle.
Agsenze said it has recently secured additional investment from UK beef farmers and an agriculture-focused family office, reflecting its expansion beyond dairy applications.

Matt Dobbs, CEO of Agsenze and a farm veterinarian, said falling digital camera costs could support wider adoption of vision-based monitoring across dairy and beef farms.

Spade Technologies CEO Scott Woodside said the addition of HerdVision supports the company’s plans to integrate animal health and welfare information with broader farm management and financial data.
Spade Technologies is based in California and provides dairy technology products and software to farming businesses internationally.
