Hendrix Genetics takes full control of swine business to accelerate product development
Hendrix Genetics has taken full ownership of its swine genetics business, bringing the combined Hypor and Danish Genetics operations under one structure. The move is aimed at accelerating decision-making, innovation and global growth.
Hendrix Genetics has taken full ownership of its swine genetics business, completing a restructuring that the company says should sharpen decision-making and speed up product development. The move folds Hendrix Genetics Swine into a dedicated business unit as the group looks to strengthen its position in a market under pressure from disease risk, labour shortages and tighter sustainability demands.
The swine arm was created by combining Hypor and Danish Genetics nearly two years ago, bringing breeding, multiplication and distribution into one platform. Since then, the company says it has been integrating operations and programmes, with the launch of Nexus 100 at SPACE 2025 presented as proof that the merger is already yielding new genetics products. Hendrix Genetics said the latest ownership change is intended to give the unit greater clarity and alignment across global activities.
Richard Maatman, Chief Executive, said the step would allow the business to operate “with greater clarity, speed and alignment”. From 1 September 2026, Dennis Jørgensen is due to become managing director of the swine activities.
Hendrix Genetics, founded in 2005, operates in more than 25 countries and has about 3,000 employees across species including poultry, salmon, trout and shrimp. The company’s broader ownership is split between Paine Schwartz Partners and its co-founders.
