Genflow Biosciences has reported encouraging early results from its SLAB study in ageing beagles, a trial designed to test whether its SIRT6-based gene therapy can slow age-related decline. The randomised, blinded study enrolled 24 dogs aged more than 10 years and split them into four arms, including two naked-DNA dose groups, a single-dose AAV8 cohort and a control group, according to company disclosures reported by Reuters.
At the three-month mark, treated animals appeared to outperform controls on survival, while no adverse events were recorded. Genflow is now analysing biological age markers and muscle data to see whether the signal extends beyond short-term tolerability and into measurable physiological change.
The next inflection point is the six-month read-out, which will show whether the early trend holds and whether responses remain consistent over time. For investors and researchers, that dataset is likely to be more informative than the initial safety update, since it may indicate whether the programme merits larger follow-on studies or a recalibration of the development plan.
Genflow, a UK biotech with research facilities in Belgium, is positioning the SLAB work as a translational bridge between veterinary and human ageing programmes.
