CERES TAG’s satellite-connected ear tag technology and C-Lock’s automated weighing systems are combining to give livestock producers individual animal performance data from pasture to feedlot. The partnership signals a broader industry push to integrate remote sensing with on-farm productivity measurement.

CERES TAG, the direct-to-satellite animal intelligence company, has announced a multi-faceted partnership with C-Lock Inc. in which the US-based firm will serve as distributor, software partner, and technology partner. The agreement brings together two complementary data streams that have historically been difficult to connect at the individual animal level.

At the core of the integration is CERES TAG’s smart ear tag, which captures pasture feed intake and behavioural data via satellite, paired with C-Lock’s automated weighing infrastructure. Together, the systems generate a continuous record of weight gain, feed utilisation, and intake , enabling producers to track performance from open pasture through to the feedlot without manual data collection.
The practical applications are broad. Producers can use the combined dataset to identify high-performing animals earlier, refine breeding selections, and adjust nutritional programmes with greater precision. The companies also highlight the relevance to sustainability reporting, as more granular feed efficiency data supports emissions intensity calculations increasingly required by processors and retailers.

David Smith, Founder and CEO of CERES TAG, said the partnership allows both companies to offer something neither could deliver independently: “By combining individual animal data from pasture environments with precise weighing and productivity measurements, we can help producers better understand performance, make smarter management decisions, and ultimately improve profitability.”
The terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
