Boehringer Ingelheim launches 2026 Equine Research Awards to advance infectious disease knowledge
Boehringer Ingelheim has opened submissions for its 2026 Advancement in Equine Research Awards, offering five grants aimed at improving understanding of equine infectious diseases across North America, with a focus on practical scientific gains.
Boehringer Ingelheim has opened submissions for its 2026 Advancement in Equine Research Awards, continuing a programme the company says is aimed at turning veterinary science into practical gains for horse health. According to the company, five awards of $15,000 will be made to projects that improve understanding of equine infectious disease, with public and private researchers in the United States, Canada and Mexico eligible to apply.
The programme also gives preferential consideration to residents and DVM/VMD graduate students for two of the grants, provided the proposals meet the standard required. Selection will be made by an independent panel of veterinarians and researchers, using criteria that include project feasibility, potential industry impact, originality and scientific quality.
Submissions must be sent by 15 September 2026, with decisions due to be announced at the American Association of Equine Practitioners convention in Las Vegas from 7 to 11 December 2026. Boehringer is accepting electronic proposals only, including a cover letter and curriculum vitae.
Launched in 2011, the awards have now distributed nearly $1 million to equine research. The company says the scheme is intended to support work with clear relevance to diagnosis, treatment and disease understanding.
